What's Old is New: Contour your Furniture with Fabric

Are you looking for ways to really change the shape and contour of a piece of furniture? Reupholstering is not for the faint of heart – but if you’re ready and willing to try something, these tips can help you do something truly amazing with that old chair.

·         Consider adding a contrast welt to define the lines of the piece. This works best on furniture that is already leaning toward the sculptural.
·         Three colors twisted together create an eye-catching mingled cord. This is an eye-catching alternative to a contrast welt.
·         Does the chair have a skirt? Change it! This is a great way to update older furniture that doesn’t look quite right because of a short skirt. Install the skirt higher up on the piece for a leaner, more graceful feel.
·         Spice things up by adding some banding to the bottom of the skirt.
·         Modernize the piece by taking the channeling or tufting out. This makes things much more streamlined.

Of course, doing these fun and imaginative reupholstery techniques requires some of the best furniture fabric. Give one of our experts a call today! We love hearing about what you’re going to do – and we love helping you find the perfect furniture fabric to do it.
